7 July– Traditional Service: Join us as we sing some of our older hymns, and Nima shares some Christian mystics’ perspectives on Jesus’ teachings, and the importance of your intention.
14 July - Steuart Pennington, founder of the site South Africa: The Good News. Since 2003, the business of www.sagoodnews.co.za has been to change the narrative out of South Africa and Africa. They believe in celebrating the good and confronting the bad; that news should be balanced, contextual and truthful (as per the SA Press Code); and that citizens should understand the truth of our progress over the last 30 years, warts and all. Steuart holds a B.A. (Honours) degree from Rhodes University, a PDM from Wits Business School and a Certificate in Management from Oxford. He is an active sportsman and lover of adventure, and currently lives in Plettenberg Bay with his wife and two daughters.
21 July - Roux Malan, Traveling lightly from West to East and back in eight days: Recently Roux was invited to lead a 2-day Zen retreat at the Buddhist Retreat Centre near Ixopo. He will share how he and Rachel prepared for the retreat and the joyous, sad, funny and delightful experiences they had while travelling the almost 2000 km to Ixopo. The story winds its way through Oudtshoorn, the Karoo, Cradock, Malungeni, Kokstad and Ixopo. There will be quotes from the book "Cry The Beloved Country" and unexpected chants from the Bible.
28 July - Wise Intentions, part of the Buddhist Eightfold Path: Nima will explore the first teaching of the Buddha after awakening which was the Four Noble Truths, and the four truth is the Eightfold Path. How might we incorporate this practice in our everyday life to connect us more deeply with our life’s purpose?
